The 10th Shatabdi Express train no. 12038/12037 Ludhiana-New
Delhi was flagged off on 24th October 2011 from Ludhiana station by Shri K.H.
Muniyappa, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways in the august presence of Sh.
Manish Tiwari, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Shri Sat Pal Gosain,
Hon’ble Minister of Health, Govt. of Punjab, Shri Hira Singh Gabria, Hon’ble
Minister of Jails, Tourism, Cultural Affairs and Printing & Stationery,
Govt. of Punjab, Sardar Hakam Singh Giaspura, Sh. Sukhdev Singh Libra, Hon’ble
Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Sardar Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Hon’ble
Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Shri Harish Bedi, Hon’ble Member of
Legislative Assembly, Ludhiana, Railway fraternity and the local residents.
Though there are a number of train services linking Ludhiana with
New Delhi, the newly introduced Shatabdi Express will run four days a week
train that will link the two important Cities via Sangrur & Rohtak. The
12037 New Delhi-Ludhiana Shatabdi Express will depart from New Delhi at 7.00
a.m. to reach Ludhiana at 12.20 p.m. (noon) the same day. While in the return
direction the 12038 will depart from Ludhiana at 4.40 p.m. to arrive at New
Delhi at 10.05 p.m. the same day. The train will run 4 days a week i.e. on
Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. The fare will be as follow:-

By connecting these two great cities, Northern Railway will be
providing an important link which will benefit the business and the farming
communities to a great extent, as Ludhiana is the hub of Hosiery material and
garments and the biggest Industrial town of Punjab manufacturing &
Engineering Components for different for different machines including cars
& tractor. Also it is the largest bi-cycle manufacturing city in Asia.
While Sangrur is one of the leading agricultural hubs of Punjab & Rohtak
to having witnessed the white revolution.
The function was attended by a large gathering and proved to be a
great success.With the efforts of UPA Govt. all the rail projects for the state
of Punjab announced in the current budget will be completed within this financial
year. Shri Manish Tewari, Hon’ble Member of Parliament from Ludhiana has taken
special interest and initiatives for the introduction of this maiden Shatabdi
train via Sangrur and Rohtak. He demanded the increase in the frequency of this
train from four days a week to daily. The demand has been accepted by the
Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways and he said that the same will be made
effective by the end of March, 2012.Similarly, a project for provision of
second Foot Over Bridge at Ludhiana station will be complete by the end of
March, 2012.
After the ceremonial function of flagging off of this Shatabdi
train a Press Conference was addressed by Shri Muniyappa, Hon’ble Minister of
State for Railways and the same was attended by a large number of representatives
from print and electronic media.
The train has received overwhelming response and reception at its
nominated stoppages i.e. Sangrur and Rohtak. A large gathering of general
public and public representatives like the Member of the Parliament &
Member of Legislative Assembly ofthe area were present at Sangrur and Rohtak
Railway Stations to give a warm welcome to this Shatabdi Express train.
